Breaking the KLR

Almost a Harley.

On a ride back home from my San Diego office I started feeling some hesitation 13 miles into the 120 mile ride.  As I was pulling off I saw the blue smoke from burning oil.  Once I was pulled off I shut it down and started looking at it.

Clearly I had lost a lot of oil.

This might have some traction issues.

AAA spells defeat.

I either lost my countershaft seal or, more likely, my countershaft bearing.  This caused a quick loss of oil.  I likely have some level of engine damage as well, I’ll have to tear it down and find out.
