DR350 Scaggs Moto Designs Luggage Rack

Well after the past year of not doing anything to the DR350 other than riding it and changing the oil it was time to give it some love.  The 2016 Death Valley Noobs Rally is coming up so I decided to get a Skaggs Rack for the bike.  I wanted to paint the rack the same color as the frame so I contacted Jared to ask if I could get an uncoated version.  He went one up on that and got it powder coated in a very similar color to my old blue frame.

Winching the Widow Maker

Here is a video of me winching a widow maker tree that was hanging over 2N49.  This tree fell in a recent wind storm and left a large, heavy portion hung up in the canopy of another tree directly over the trial.  It was a high priority to take this remnant down before it fell on its own.

To remove it I used my Warn M800 winch, chain (only use chain when working with static loads, not shock loads like vehicle-to-vehicle recovery), and snatch blocks.  I then cut the tree branches with an axe and winched the tree to the side of the trail.

2015 Sierra Trip

Posted on by 0 comment

Tomorrow Sebastian, Charlotte, and I start on our 2015 Sierra trip.  We begin by driving from Torrance, to Truckee to attend the 2015 Cal4Wheel Sierra Trek.  After that we will work our way South toward Sequoia National Park.  Mid-week we pick up Holly and continue the trip.  We then hit NAXJA’s Sierra Fest dinner and raffle then camp in the Sierra National Forest before heading home.

At least 1500 miles just getting in between destinations and 12 nights camping in the borrowed roof top tent. This is going to be great.

July Adopt-A-Trail

July’s Adopt-A-Trail schedule originally called for 2N04 work but due to the Lake Fire we were forced to relocate to 2N49.  WE still had a great time and got some good work in.

I’ve seen some discussion on the flaky horn switches on our bikes. I just corrected mine and thought I would share the info.
